“Thinking out of the box” or “Back to Basics”

Have you had this experience one time in the clinics when you open the therapy closet you suddenly suffered amnesia as to what you were supposed to do next. What is it for today, cones, nuts and bolts, or pegs? Despite our best intentions for the clients at times we are boxed in by that proverbial therapy closet. I am reaching out to all IRI Rehab staff (OT/OTA, PT/PTA) to contribute ideas or suggestions as to how we can improve our clinical practice.

May this blog also spin off into a “community of practice” amongst “contract therapists” as we all know much is expected of us in our assignments that at times our limited human effort falters. We can all support and encourage each other through this blog in our own little way.

Right now I am particularly challenged on how to make an “exercise group” a great experience for my sub-acute/long-term clients. Moreover, any other ideas about group therapy is very much welcome.

IRI Celebrating Go Red Week

Get Ready to Go Red For Women!
Integrated Resources, Inc’s Third Year in Celebrating GO RED FOR WOMEN!
Circle Friday 02/05/2010 in red on your calendars.
That’s the day our company will join the American Heart Association (AHA)’s fight against heart disease by holding Wear Red Day.
We encourage everyone to participate by wearing red to work and donating to help the AHA raise women’s awareness of cardiovascular disease and empower women to reduce their risk.
Your participation will also entitle you to wear jeans to work on Wear Red Day! (For internal office only – others please check with your supervisors).
We are proud to be joining the AHA and concerned companies and organizations across America in the fight against the #1 killer of women – as well as of men.
Wear Red Day is a chance for us to arm ourselves with knowledge about this devastating disease and to raise funds that will help the AHA advance its research and education efforts.
Learn more about the national cause to increase awareness and help women reduce their risk of heart disease at GoRedForWomen.org.

Thank you in advance for supporting this lifesaving program!
